China supports territorial integrity and sovereignty of Kyrgyzstan

«China firmly supports Kyrgyzstan’s policy of protecting independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity,» said PRC Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Du Dewen at a scientific and practical conference, dedicated to the 73rd anniversary of founding of the People’s Republic of China.

She reminded that the President Sadyr Japarov took part in the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics and the Chinese President held the first bilateral meeting with him.

«The leaders of our countries made a joint statement and outlined new prospects for Chinese-Kyrgyz relations. At the end of July, State Councilor Wang Yi paid an official visit to Kyrgyzstan. It was the first visit of the Chinese leadership after the election of Sadyr Japarov as President of the Kyrgyz Republic. Last week, the Chinese President and the President of Kyrgyzstan held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the SCO summit,» Du Dewen said and noted that important agreements were reached during the meeting.

There are no unresolved political issues between Kyrgyzstan and China now.

«The two republics support each other in key issues affecting the fundamental interests of the two countries. The PRC firmly supports Kyrgyzstan in its independent choice of development path. It supports the policy of the Kyrgyz Republic on protection of independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and constantly provides assistance,» the Ambassador added.

Emergency situation has been introduced in Batken region. Shooting began at several sites of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the morning of September 16. Settlements in Leilek and Batken district came under fire. The Ministry of Health reported 185 victims, 59 people were killed. As a result of the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, residents of seven villages in Batken and Leilek districts, as well as Dzhekendi village in Chon-Alai district of Osh region, left their homes.

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan opened a criminal case on crimes against peace.
