Mayor of Bishkek Emilbek Abdykadyrov met with the Regional Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Ayten Rustamova. Press service of the City Hall reported.
The parties discussed current and potential projects, in particular, acceleration of the process of purchase of buses running on compressed natural gas. The bank also presented two projects: «Bishkek Water Project» and «Purchase of Autonomous Trolleybuses for Bishkek».
«Emilbek Abdykadyrov noted that the projects would be considered in detail by the City Hall of the capital with the involvement of industry experts,» the press service noted.
The EBRD has allocated $33 million for the purchase of buses, of which $25 million is a loan, $8 million is a grant; the loan is designed for 12 years, the grace period is three years. The first stage of procurement has been completed and a contract has been signed with Golden Dragon. It is planned that 124 buses 10.5 meters long will be delivered to Bishkek by the end of the year. At the second stage, 12 meters long buses will be purchased.
