Increase in salaries of civil servants: President hopes to reduce corruption

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov hopes that the level of corruption will decrease with the increase in salaries of civil servants. He wrote this on his Facebook page.

He noted that there were talks about the decline in the quality and prestige of the civil service. One of the main reasons was the issue of salaries.

«We have begun to see the results of our efforts to replenish the country’s treasury: by joint efforts, taking control of such large mines as Kumtor, which began to work in the interests of the state, as well as strengthening control over customs and tax payments. Thanks to these measures, we have already managed to significantly raise the salaries of workers in the fields of culture, medicine, education, as well as state and municipal employees,» the head of state emphasized.

According to Sadyr Japarov, the size of salaries should positively influence the quality, honor and reputation of the civil service itself.

«I think that the salary increase will give strength and inspiration to civil servants, and this will be an excellent support and motivation to advance in their work. No wonder it was noted that the main goal of the signed decree is to create conditions for improving the efficiency and quality of work of state civil and municipal employees, as well as attracting highly qualified personnel and reducing corruption risks in public administration,» the President noted.

The head of state added that a civil servant must be a patriot and a citizen of homeland not in words but in deeds.

On Tuesday the President signed a decree on the conditions of remuneration of state civil servants and municipal employees.
