Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev held bilateral talks with the Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi. Press service of the Foreign Affairs Ministry reported.
Jeenbek Kulubaev noted that cooperation with China is a priority in the foreign policy of Kyrgyzstan. There are no political reasons and disagreements between Kyrgyzstan and China that hinder the further progressive development of bilateral relations, which are characterized by a comprehensive strategic partnership. The parties intend to further strengthen the political dialogue and make efforts to implement the agreements reached between the residents of the two countries on further development of relations of friendship, good neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation.
According to Wang Yi, bilateral relations have come a long way of development for 30 years. Under the strategic leadership of the heads of state, China and Kyrgyzstan have become good neighbors, good friends, partners and brothers. The parties need to strengthen solidarity, support each other in matters of sovereignty, security, as well as the chosen path of development with their own characteristic national features.
China and Kyrgyzstan are actively cooperating in the field of security and jointly counter traditional threats and new challenges.
«The Kyrgyz side supports China’s initiatives on global security and global development, aimed at strengthening mutual trust, ensuring joint security and sustainable development. During the talks with the Minister Wang Yi, issues of developing trade and economic ties and investment cooperation were discussed. The parties intend to actively work on the implementation of the program for the medium-term and long-term development of trade and economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and China until 2030,» the statement says.
The parties are interested in increasing the level of trade and the volume of cargo traffic, optimizing the work of checkpoints at the border, and export of Kyrgyz agricultural products to China. The parties also agreed to work on the development of e-commerce and attraction of investments in the field of renewable energy sources in Kyrgyzstan.
The ministers also expressed the unanimity of opinion on the importance of the practical implementation of China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railway construction project.
In mid-July, the first group of Chinese experts arrived in Kyrgyzstan, who, together with Kyrgyz specialists, is conducting field surveys on the Kyrgyz section of the road. The Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China noted that as a result of the joint efforts of the three countries, the practical implementation of the railway construction project has been launched.
Wang Yi also noted the importance of accelerating the implementation of «One Belt, One Road» initiative and carrying out joint work on planning bilateral cooperation for the next 30 years to bring the Kyrgyz-Chinese relations of comprehensive strategic partnership to a higher level and create a community of common destiny between China and Kyrgyzstan, to contribute to strengthening the community of a common destiny of China and Central Asia and the community of a common destiny for mankind as a whole.
«The heads of the foreign affairs agencies also exchanged views on the implementation of infrastructure grant projects in Kyrgyzstan and noted the importance of building the Bypass Chui Canal — 2 in Kyrgyzstan. This project, as well as other hydrotechnical facilities that will be built at the expense of the grants from the Chinese government, are designed to solve the problems of irrigation water supply and will contribute to strengthening food security, as well as the development of agriculture in Kyrgyzstan,» the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan noted.
China will continue to provide support to Kyrgyzstan in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of healthcare will be further strengthened.
To further intensify cultural and humanitarian cooperation, the parties agreed to open Lu Ban Workshop in Kyrgyzstan to develop vocational education, as well as establish cultural centers to strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries. Through interaction within the framework of the UN and regional organizations, the practice of mutual support for important initiatives and key issues of mutual interest will continue.
