The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring access to a clean and healthy environment a universal human right. Kyrgyzstan abstained during the voting.
The voting results were published on the organization’s Twitter.
«The decision is expected to be a catalyst for climate action,» the UN said.
At least 161 countries voted for. Eight abstained: Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Cambodia, China, Ethiopia, Iran and Russia. No one voted against.
The Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN is the ex-deputy of the Parliament Aida Kasymalieva.
