A meeting of the Intergovernmental Kyrgyz-Chinese Commission on trade and economic cooperation was held in video conferencing format. Press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
The parties discussed implementation of the protocol of the previous meeting and topical issues of trade and economic partnership between Kyrgyzstan and China.
Chairman of the Kyrgyz part of the Commission, First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev noted that the parties managed to achieve positive results in the development of cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, standardization, agriculture, transport, healthcare, emergencies, intellectual property, press, culture, and interregional cooperation.
Particular attention was paid to the implementation of infrastructure and irrigation projects, in particular, the construction of Obvodnoy Chui Canal, China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railway, an alternative North-South road, five engineering structures (two avalanche galleries, three overpass bridges), and rehabilitation of roads in Bishkek.
To stimulate economic growth, Internet commerce and increase mutual trade turnover, the Kyrgyz side suggested considering the possibility of opening a branch of Alibaba Group in the country.
Chairman of the Chinese part of the commission, representative at international negotiations, Vice Minister of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China Wang Shouwen also positively assessed the dynamics of economic and investment cooperation. He suggested paying special attention to bilateral partnership in the areas of innovation, green economy and hydropower, mining and oil refining, environmental protection, investment and interregional cooperation.
Wang Shouwen noted that the Chinese side is making efforts to increase the export of Kyrgyzstan’s products to the Chinese market. He also informed about the readiness to create a Council of Entrepreneurs within the framework of the Kyrgyz-Chinese working group on investment and industrial cooperation.
