Hungarian company to design small hydropower plants in Kyrgyzstan

Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov met with the Executive Director of the Hungarian company A-Hid Laszlo Salom and discussed the issue of designing small hydropower plants. Press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.

«Development and construction of small hydropower plants is one of the priority areas in the work of the Cabinet of Ministers. We are ready to implement projects, including in the field of small hydropower, which will create conditions for ensuring the energy independence of the country,» said Akylbek Japarov.

A cooperation agreement was signed between the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Hungarian-Kyrgyz Development Fund and A-Hid company.

Studies will be conducted to select the most promising sites for the construction of small hydropower plants with further development of a preliminary feasibility study for the small power facilities themselves.

Within the framework of the agreement, the issue of financing projects in the field of small hydropower will also be studied using the opportunities of the Hungarian-Kyrgyz Development Fund.

A-Hid is engaged in designing of energy facilities, such infrastructure facilities as bridges, roads, railways, public transport facilities.

The Hungarian-Kyrgyz Development Fund was established to promote economic cooperation between the two countries. The organization pays great attention to establishing business contacts and cooperation with Hungarian companies.

The Fund provides concessional lending to self-sustaining projects in priority sectors of the domestic economy. Its authorized capital is $16 million.
