The first Kyrgyz-British Inter-MFA consultations on issues of bilateral cooperation were held. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported.
The Kyrgyz delegation was headed by the Director of the 3rd Political Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ruslan Bekbolotov. Martin Harris, Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, headed the British delegation.
June 12, 2022 marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and the UK.
The parties discussed the state and possible directions for development of bilateral cooperation, inter-parliamentary cooperation and interaction between the parliamentary friendship groups of the Kyrgyz Republic and Great Britain.
They touched upon the organizing of the Kyrgyz-British Investment Forum in London in 2022, implementation by the British side of projects to support small and medium-sized businesses in Kyrgyzstan, to train entrepreneurs of the Kyrgyz Republic in such areas as product quality, certification, and the possibility of promoting products to new markets.
Agriculture, light industry and tourism were designated as promising areas of bilateral economic cooperation.
The parties touched upon cooperation in the field of education, discussed issues of employment of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic in the UK under an agreement between the Center for Employment of Citizens Abroad and the British company AGRI-HR.
The Kyrgyz side asked to consider the possibility of opening a UK visa center in Bishkek to facilitate the receipt of a British visa by the citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Attention was also paid to the issues of interaction within the framework of international organizations. The parties exchanged views on topical issues on the international agenda.
