Health Minister of Kyrgyzstan Alymkadyr Beishenaliev extorted 1 million soms from his deputy Uluk-Bek Bekturganov. Press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.
Earlier, Uluk-Bek Bekturganov filed a statement with law enforcement agencies that Alymkadyr Beishenaliev intimidated him by dismissal and extorted a million soms.
«Uluk-Bek Bekturganov borrowed 498,000 soms from his relatives and on July 8, 2021 handed over the money to a representative of a construction company following the oral instructions of the Minister of Health. A criminal case was initiated under the Article «Extortion of a bribe» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. Investigative measures are being carried out,» the supervisory body said.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan opened seven criminal cases against the Health Minister Alymkadyr Beishenaliev. One criminal case was initiated on corruption, two — on extortion of a bribe, and four — on abuse of official position and conclusion of a deliberately unprofitable contract.
The Prosecutor General’s Office also announced detention of three more officials of the Ministry of Health as part of a criminal case on corruption in the procurement of vaccines against COVID-19.
Deputy Minister Uluk-Bek Bekturganov, director of the Republican Center for Immunoprophylaxis Gulbara Ishenapysova and head of the Department of Medicines and Medical Products Sultan Satarbekov were detained.
