President creates commission on Alymkadyr Beishenaliev’s case

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov created a commission on the case of the detained head of the Ministry of Health Alymkadyr Beishenaliev. He said it in an interview with Azattyk.

He noted that a moratorium was introduced on the inspection of state institutions in 2020.

«The moratorium was lifted this year. It is allowed to check all ministries, state institutions, as there was information about a growth in illegal actions in financial activities. Based on the results of the checks, I was contacted by the Prosecutor General’s Office. They reported financial irregularities on the part of the minister Alymkadyr Beishenaliev. I said if he really caused damage to the state, interrogate him. Probably, they were waiting for the opening of a rehabilitation center for children. Seeing that he was detained yesterday, I created a commission. I said to find out whether the criminal case was justified or not. I must be fair,» the head of state said.

Sadyr Japarov noted that there are talks in society about confrontation between the Prosecutor General and the minister.

«Therefore, I ask not to denigrate them prematurely. The investigation continues. Nobody will interfere. The commission will only get acquainted with the materials of the case and they will give me information. After that, we will draw conclusions,» the President stressed.

A measure of restraint will be chosen for Alymkadyr Beishenaliev today. Yesterday he was placed in the temporary detention center of the State Committee for National Security.

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan opened seven criminal cases against the Health Minister Alymkadyr Beishenaliev. One criminal case was initiated on corruption, two — on extortion of a bribe, and four — on abuse of official position and conclusion of a deliberately unprofitable contract.

The Prosecutor General’s Office also announced detention of three more officials of the Ministry of Health as part of a criminal case on corruption in the procurement of vaccines against COVID-19.
