Kyrgyzrestavratsiya comments on dismantling of Terentyev's house

Works on reconstruction of Terentyev’s house have started. Dismantling of wooden structures is carried out according to the project. Director of Kyrgyzrestavratsiya Dzhumamedel Imankulov told 24.kg news agency.

«This is not the demolition and destruction of the historical building, but its restoration. The log-house is dismantled. The brick walls will be reinforced, and then the log-house will be reassembled, restoring the missing structures. The reconstruction is being carried out by Dordoi Association under the supervision of our specialists. We’ll try to restore the house to its original form,» he said.

Wooden structures of the house of the first headman of the city Ilya Terentyev have been dismantled. Only the first floor made of bricks is left of the building located in Kychan Dzhakypov park. The wooden constructions of the second floor have been dismantled and lie not far from the building.

Plans to reconstruct the historic building were announced at the beginning of the year. The work was estimated at 11 million soms.

It is already the third attempt to restore the historical object. In 2013, Askar Salymbekov expressed his readiness to sponsor the reconstruction. Isa Omurkulov, then mayor of Bishkek, supported the idea, calling the restoration of the house of the first head man «a matter of honor». They even held a ceremony of beginning of the work. They laid a capsule in the foundation of the house, which was stolen by the homeless people 10 days later. In the same year, Isa Omurkulov left the post of mayor, forgetting about Terentyev, his house, and the «matter of honor».

In 2015, Askar Salymbekov again expressed his desire to save the historical site. An agreement was made between the businessman and the National Cultural Center under the Ministry of Culture, which had the monument on its balance sheet. Salymbekov paid 500,000 soms for the development of the first part of the future reconstruction project, which was prepared by Kyrgyzrestavratsiya. Six years had passed since then.

Ilya Terentyev was the first elected headman in the history of Pishpek. He was born in 1848 in the family of a master gunsmith from Izhevsk. In 1895, Terentyev was elected head of the so-called simplified municipal government, which consisted of 12-15 members of the assembly of plenipotentiaries. Under Ilya Fedotovich, streets began to be leveled, especially in Dunganskaya Sloboda; with the help of Fetisov, a well-known gardener of that time, the foundations were laid for Karagachevaya Grove, Oak park and Boulevard Alley (its part is today’s Erkindik Boulevard).
