The second round of negotiations took place. The first meeting of the heads of the two countries was held today at 3 a.m. on the territory between Kulundu-Avtodorozhny (Kyrgyzstan) and Ovchikalacha (Tajikistan) checkpoint.
Abdikarim Alimbaev urged his colleague to help stabilize the situation.
«Now all the military and security services continue withdrawal of forces to the places of permanent deployment. During the meeting, we agreed on the need to conduct awareness-raising work among the local population. In general, the situation is stable,» Abdikarim Alimbaev said.
Another shootout occurred at night on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. The border guards of the Republic of Tajikistan opened fire on the servicemen of the Kyrgyz Republic at about 9.17 p.m. during a meeting of border representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, who arrived at the scene of the incident as a reinforcement. After midnight, the parties agreed to withdraw additional forces to the points of their permanent deployment.
