Situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border is stable. The Information and Communications Department of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of the Kyrgyz Republic reports.
The night passed quietly and no shooting was registered.
Meeting of heads of Batken region of Kyrgyzstan and Sughd region of Tajikistan was held from 3 a.m. to 3.55 a.m. in the area between Kulundu- Avtodorozhny checkpoint (Kyrgyz Republic) and Ovchi-Kalacha- Avtodorozhny checkpoint (Tajikistan). The meeting was attended by the heads of the border departments of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, as well as the heads of law enforcement agencies of the two regions.
During the meeting, the parties agreed:
- On control over the withdrawal of additional forces and means to the points of their permanent deployment. Withdrawal of additional personnel, military equipment and weapons began on April 12 after the adoption of this decision;
- To hold a meeting of the delegations of the two republics in extended format at the site of the incident in Selkana area of Leilek district, Batken region today, April 13.
Units of the Border Service deployed in Batken region were put on combat alert.
The Border Service monitors and controls the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border.
Another shootout occurred at night on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border. The border guards of the Republic of Tajikistan opened fire on the servicemen of the Kyrgyz Republic at about 9.17 p.m. during a meeting of border representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, who arrived at the scene of the incident as a reinforcement. After midnight, the parties agreed to withdraw additional forces to the points of their permanent deployment.
