At least 327 criminal cases have been opened in Russia against 224 Kyrgyzstanis, who committed drug-related crimes in 2021. The Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Russia reported.
Russian law enforcement agencies note that the suspects deliberately commit crimes in search of quick and easy earnings.
«However, there are cases when Kyrgyzstanis are involved in such crimes due to ignorance. These are often citizens, who are employed as couriers or provide services for the transportation of goods through social networks,» the statement says.
The diplomatic mission reminded that depending on the circumstances of the case and according to Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the punishment for drug trafficking ranges from 4 to 20 years in prison. Drugs not only destroy the citizens who consume them, but also destroy the lives of those who distribute them.
