Kyrgyzstan intends to cooperate with Central Asian countries in energy sector

«Kyrgyzstan is interested in building up investment cooperation with the countries of Central Asia in the energy sector,» Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Aziz Aaliev said during the plenary session «Investment Potential of Central Asia» of the first Tashkent International Investment Forum.

Aziz Aaliev noted that Kyrgyzstan traditionally stands for the development of regional ties in the spirit of trust and openness. Strengthening and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation with the nearest neighboring states is a priority of the country’s foreign policy.

«There are all prerequisites for turning our region into one of the most important hubs of world trade. Efforts should be made to improve the transport and logistics infrastructure of the countries of Central Asia, primarily in terms of increasing the level of integration within the region, as well as access to global transport hubs and corridors.

Kyrgyzstan is working to improve highways of international importance. Issue of reconstruction of railways within the country and its access to transcontinental highways is on the agenda. The largest road project is the construction of China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railway, the successful implementation of which will significantly improve the transit potential of the entire region,» he said.

Aziz Aaliev emphasized the importance of introducing and promoting the initiative of an inclusive green economy and transition to low-carbon and low-emission development, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

«Kyrgyzstan intends to gradually implement a number of projects for the construction of hydroelectric power stations on its territory, as well as to develop projects in the field of renewable energy sources. Therefore, we are interested in further building up cooperation with the countries of the region in the field of direct investment in the energy sector, construction of hydroelectric power plants and development of renewable energy sources. We are ready to create favorable conditions for investors,» the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet said.
