Three new regions will appear in Kazakhstan. Informburo.kz reports, citing the President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
«I propose to create Abai region. Semei will become the center of the new region. I know that the people of the region have been talking about this for a long time. There are many unresolved issues now. For example, the internal infrastructure of the region is completely worn out,» he said during an address to the people of Kazakhstan.
He also proposed to create Ulytau region on the territory of the former Zhezkazgan region.
«Zhezkazgan will again become a regional center. Creation of an independent region here is an important decision not only economically, but also spiritually,» he added.
According to the President of Kazakhstan, there are many problems in Almaty agglomeration. Taking into account these factors, it is proposed to divide the Almaty region into two parts.
«Zhetysu and Almaty regions will be formed in this region. The center of Almaty region should be in Kapchagai. The center of Zhetysu region will be located in Taldykorgan,» Kassym-Jomart Tokayev concluded.
