UN Secretary-General urges to immediately stop bloodshed in Ukraine

The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has called for an immediate end to the bloodshed following the airstrikes on a maternity hospital in Mariupol. He wrote it on Twitter.

He said the attack on the hospital in Mariupol, where the maternity and children’s wards are located, was horrific.

An air raid on Mariupol on March 9 destroyed a maternity hospital in the city center, as well as a hospital, a children’s ward and a therapy department. As a result of the strike, 17 people were wounded.

Meanwhile, Russia’s First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Dmitriy Polyansky, pointed out on Twitter a fake Western media report that civilians were allegedly wounded in the strike on the Mariupol hospital, reproaching the UN Secretary-General António Guterres for not verifying the accuracy of the information that he comments on.

The situation in Ukraine remains complicated. Fighting continues. Russia started a special military operation on February 24, 2022. The number of military and civilian casualties continues to grow. Many states have imposed and continue to impose severe sanctions on Russia. On the fourth attempt, on the thirteenth day of the conflict, a humanitarian corridor was opened for refugees who decided to leave Ukraine. The first stage of evacuation of civilians from the city of Sumy in north-eastern Ukraine began yesterday.
