Sanctions against Russia affect economies of all EAEU countries

Sanctions against Russia affect the economies of all members of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi said.

According to him, the Republic of Kazakhstan sees risks for itself in the sanctions imposed by the West on the Russian Federation. They affect the economies of all members of the EAEU.

«Since we are in the Eurasian Economic Union together with Russia, it is clear that the sanctions that are applied against it, of course, affect the economies of all members of the EAEU. Now we are witnessing the depreciation of both the ruble and the tenge against the dollar and the euro. In addition, there is another big set of problems that will be raised regarding the transit of goods, trade. This is of the greatest concern now,» Mukhtar Tleuberdi said on the sidelines of the session of the UN Human Rights Council, which is taking place in Geneva.

Today is the fifth day of fighting in Ukraine. On February 24, 2022, the Russian President Vladimir Putin announced start of a special military operation. It was regarded in Ukraine and in the West as a full-scale invasion. Severe economic sanctions began to be imposed on Russia on February 25.

The number of casualties, both among military personnel of both countries and civilians, is increasing. The number of Ukrainian refugees fleeing to Europe is growing. Protests against Russia’s actions are taking place in many countries around the world.
