First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Arzybek Kozhoshev told reporters what projects Akylbek Zhaparov and Alikhan Smailov discussed the day before.
According to him, the Kazakh side raised the issue of four resorts located in Kyrgyzstan. On July 4, 2006, an agreement was signed in Astana on regulating the property rights of the Republic of Kazakhstan to resort objects and recreation facilities located in Issyk-Kul region. An agreement on the transfer of four resorts for long-term lease: Olimp sports and recreation center (former Avtomobilist Kazakhstan) in Korumdu village, Kazakhstan in Cholpon-Ata, Samal in Bosteri village and University was approved by the decision of the Parliament in 2009. After registration of the property right by the Kazakh side, it was planned to employ the citizens of Kyrgyzstan there, bringing the hotels to the level of four-five stars. But after the 2010 revolution, nationalization of the resorts was planned. The issue has not been finally resolved.
«We believe that they have not fulfilled their investment agreement. But the Kazakh side promises that investors will be attracted to develop these resorts. They will bring the resorts to the level of four-five-star hotels,» Arzybek Kozhoshev said.
In addition, Akylbek Japarov and Alikhan Smailov considered the issue of creating a trade and logistics center on the border between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Kazakhstan. It was decided that each of the countries, on its part, will allocate 50 hectares of land.
«A capsule will be laid for the construction of the center during the visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan in May 2022. We hope that this center will have the status of a free economic zone with a special regime, and our entrepreneurs will be able to supply goods both to the Republic of Kazakhstan and to other states without any problems. We also invited the Kazakh side to participate in the construction of Kambarata-1. This is important, because they and we understand that the problems of water and energy balance must be addressed. They seem to have expressed a desire to participate in the project when the feasibility study is ready,» Arzybek Kozhoshev told.
