COVID-19 vaccination: Kyrgyzstan has more than 4 million doses in stock

Kyrgyzstan has more than 4 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines in stock. Ainura Akmatova, the head of the Public Health Department of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan, told a press conference.

Last year, she said, a total of 6,186,200 doses of the vaccine were provided as humanitarian aid and purchased.

«At least 1,428,000 doses of them were brought into our country within the COVAX mechanism, 2,280,200 doses — as humanitarian aid, and 2,460,000 doses of the vaccines were purchased at the expense of the national budget,» she said.

At least 2,700,500 doses of the vaccines have been used, another 4,700,800 doses remain in stock.

«In order to preserve the stock of the vaccines, eight special refrigerators equipped with generators and voltage stabilizers have been purchased for $1,697,000. They have been installed in all regions of the republic,» Ainura Akmatova told.

Earlier it was reported that 3.4 million people have been identified as the target group to be vaccinated within the National Coronavirus Vaccination Plan. It does not include children under 18 years old and external labor migrants. However, in mid-November, the Ministry of Health decided to vaccinate 16-18- year-old adolescents, pregnant and lactating women.
