MPs ask Talant Mamytov to raise issue of migrant problems in Russia

The Speaker of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Talant Mamytov will go on a working trip to Russia. It was announced at a parliamentary session.

Deputies asked him to raise the problems of migrants working in Russia. Dastan Bekeshev noted that under the new Russian legislation migrants need to undergo a medical examination every quarter. The cost of the examination is 6,000 rubles, which is quite a large sum for citizens of Kyrgyzstan.

«Thousands of people are standing in line for a medical examination. We need the president to raise this issue as well. We should speak openly: either migrants must leave Russia or obtain citizenship there. In this case, we should consider the issue of dual citizenship. Let’s conclude an agreement. There are a lot of problems with this law. Our migrants are blacklisted for the slightest violation,» he said.

Deputy Zhanar Akayev reminded that Kyrgyzstan is a member of the EAEU.

«Migrants say that this medical examination hits their pockets. We sent a letter to the Chairman of the State Duma Committee Leonid Kalashnikov. I believe that when considering this law, State Duma deputies should have indicated that it applies to everyone except for the EAEU states. We have so many ministers who sit in the EAEU, they get their salaries. Why are they just sitting in Russia? Those who used to teach us, once they got the position, are sitting in silence now,» he noted.
