Deprivation of migrants of citizenship for committed crimes proposed in Russia

Members of the Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights under the President of Russia sent practical recommendations on the situation with migrants to the Security Council of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Russian media report.

According to the council member Kirill Kabanov, liberalization of migration legislation is impossible, since there are problems with the current number of migrants in the country. It is necessary to strengthen control over their whereabouts, as well as to tighten the justification procedure for employers, as it is done in some regions of the Russian Federation.

«We now need to increase the number of internal labor reserves attracted and work out the mechanisms for creating special agencies that will increase interest of the people. We are confident that this will improve the situation,» Kirill Kabanov said.

It is noted that many employers in Russia are used to working with migrants. «This is not such a cheap labor force, it is just a well-established mechanism for tax evasion,» the statement says.

In its recommendations, the Council calls for a change in the resettlement program for compatriots. «We also sent proposals that in case of committing crimes, migrants may be deprived of their citizenship, for example, within ten years,» Kirill Kabanov said.

In addition, it is proposed to check the procedure of granting citizenship, because «it has become a commercial matter.»
