The tragic events in Kazakhstan confirm the need to step up the work of all CSTO member states on countering terrorism, extremism, religious radicalism and transnational organized crime, including drug trafficking. The President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon announced today at an extraordinary session of the CSTO.
According to him, he has repeatedly paid attention to the presence of sleeper cells in the countries.
«The terrorists have no homeland, no religion, no nationality. They must be eliminated wherever they are. The idea of Islamic radicalism and extremism is being promoted in our country and poses a threat to all our states. Many are fighting on the side of the militants in Syria. Many of them returned home. We must protect not only the borders, but also the information space, cut off the channels of penetration of persons involved in extremism and terrorism into the CSTO countries. It is also necessary to control the departure of citizens abroad for religious studies. The situation on the border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan is getting worse every day. There are battles at our border between the Taliban themselves. This is dangerous. We urgently need to solve the problem of strengthening the borders,» he said.
