Kyrgyzstan and China agree to resume work of Torugart checkpoint

Kyrgyzstan and China have agreed to resume work of Torugart checkpoint. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The checkpoint will resume work on June 8 for mutual cargo transportation between Kyrgyzstan and the People’s Republic of China only.

«Detailed issues of the opening and functioning of Torugart checkpoint will be agreed in the near future additionally between the competent authorities of the two countries,» the Foreign Ministry added.

Recall, the checkpoints were closed from January 24 to January 30 at the initiative of the Chinese side in connection with the celebration of the New Year — the Spring Festival in China. On February 2, the Kyrgyz side temporarily closed the state border with China and suspended air traffic.

Irkeshtam checkpoint on the border with China has resumed operation on April 14, 2020.
