Prisoners complain about torture to human rights defenders

Prisoners complained to the staff of the National Center for Torture Prevention in Kyrgyzstan. Acting head of the human rights organization Dinara Sayakova told 24.kg news agency.

According to her, they visited closed institutions with an inspection. «Experts noted that, despite the difficult situation with coronavirus, there are torture, ill-treatment, as well as violation of the conditions of detention. We received six allegations of torture from the prison population, and three — of ill-treatment. The most common violation is an excess of the length of stay in the temporary detention center from two weeks to two months,» Dinara Sayakova said.

The National Center for Torture Prevention noted that women in the pretrial detention centers ask for help. They ask to change their preventive measure for house arrest or recognizance not to leave the place.
