Mutual trade in non-primary goods in EAEU is growing

Mutual trade in non-primary, non-energy goods in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) grew in the first quarter of 2020 to $ 9.1 billion, or by 2.8 percent. An analytical study of the trade bloc of the Eurasian Economic Commission says.

Indicators in all product groups have grown, except for metal products. For example, trade in engineering products, share of which in the sales structure of the union is 26.5 percent, increased by 0.5 percent, trade in food products — by 6.6 percent, chemical products — by 1.6 percent.

The EAEU non-primary, non-energy exports to third countries decreased by 8.2 percent.

The export of metal products reduced most significantly — by 19.6 percent. Food exports to third countries showed an increase of 15.9 percent. Mechanical engineering (share of 9.3 percent) grew by 0.3 percent.

«If, in value terms, trade within the EAEU against the background of market conditions and price conditions is likely to enter the negative zone, then the physical volumes of deliveries will continue to grow, unlike the external boundary,» Andrei Slepnev, Minister for Trade of the EEC, said.
