Ministry of Health hopes to open Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship Hospital in 2019

The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan hopes that the Kyrgyz-Turkish Friendship Hospital will open in Bishkek in 2019.

Text of the agreement between the governments of Turkey and Kyrgyzstan on the opening, joint management and transfer of the hospital to the Kyrgyz side was signed on September 1, 2018 during the visit of the President of Turkey to Bishkek.

«The agreement should pass domestic coordination procedure. After the law is signed by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Turkish side will be notified of the completion of the procedure. A similar process will take place in Turkey, after which the hospital will be registered as a legal entity. The Turkish side will finance the hospital for the first three years,» the head of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Health Osmon Masaliev told 24.kg news agency.

The draft law on ratification of the agreement has already been submitted to the Parliament. The hospital is designed for 72 beds (including 21 beds in the intensive care unit). It will provide its services to citizens of Kyrgyzstan and other countries, as well as stateless persons.

For three years, the hospital will be managed jointly by the two parties, and after the completion of this period — by the Kyrgyz side. In the next three years after its transfer, the Ministry of Health of Turkey will continue to monitor and coordinate the activities of the medical institution.

The hospital has been already built. Earlier it was reported that the Turkish side has to maintain all the mounted systems in the empty hospital.

This hospital is a gift from Turkey to the people of Kyrgyzstan. It was planned to be completed and put into operation until August 31, 2017. The delay was caused by text of the agreement.
