A criminal case against the ex-mayor of Bishkek, Kubanychbek Kulmatov, was sent to court. The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan informed 24.kg news agency.
According to the agency, the trial will take place in Leninsky District Court of Bishkek. Date of the trial has not been set yet. The lawyer of the former mayor Sergei Slesarev has not yet received a notification that the materials of the case have been sent to court.
He stated that the investigation, as a study of the case of his client showed, was conducted superficially, there was no reasoned evidence in it.
The lawyer noted unprecedented pressure on him as a lawyer by the investigators of the State Committee for National Security and stressed that the charge was brought illegally. «There is not a trace of corruption in the case against Kubanychbek Kulmatov,» Sergei Slesarev told.
According to investigators, in 2014, Kubanychbek Kulmatov, being the mayor of the capital, illegally used grant funds of $ 2 million for the construction of two schools.
