Kyrgyz girls more often marry not citizens of China, but Russia. It was announced today at a government meeting.
According to the State Registration Service, from 2010 to 2018, only 60 Kyrgyz citizens registered marriages with citizens of the PRC. At least 45 of them are ethnic Kyrgyz.
Last year, a total of 1,762 marriages between citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic and foreigners were registered.
About 582 of them are marriages with the citizens of Russia, 409 — of Uzbekistan, 192 — of Tajikistan, 18 — of the PRC. Other 480 cases are marriages with citizens of other countries.
«The majority of Chinese citizens, who married our citizens, are the ethnic Kyrgyz. I think the same is with the citizens of Russia. As it is known, many of our migrants obtained Russian citizenship, and they come here to marry,» the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev explained.
