Anti-Chinese appeals in Kyrgyzstan. SDPK accuses authorities of inaction

«In connection with the frequent attempts to link the aggravation of anti-Chinese sentiment in the country with the activities of SDPK, we officially declare: our political opponents are trying to put the blame for their own mistakes on the ex-President Almazbek Atambayev and his supporters through this new lie and the dirty information provocations,» the party’s spokeswoman Kunduz Zholdubaeva said.

According to her, professional intelligence services could easily find the real organizers of provocative rallies, in particular, held in Bishkek on January 7 and the planned for January 17, and the Presidential Administration and the Government were obliged to carry out relevant explanatory work.

Kunduz Zholdubaeva believes that throughout the past year, the government authorities did not take adequate measures against spread of anti-Chinese information and other provocations that caused damage to the development of Kyrgyz-Chinese relations.

«And now we are witnessing attempts to shift responsibility from a sick head to a healthy one. This is exactly the case when the authorities should look for the reasons for aggravation of anti-Chinese sentiments in their state bodies, and not in the activities of political opponents,» the official representative of the Social Democratic Party said.

According to Kunduz Zholdubaeva, important steps were taken to strengthen cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the People’s Republic of China, mutually beneficial large-scale joint economic projects were implemented with unconditional consideration of the national interests of the republic exactly during Almazbek Atambayev’s presidency.

«Neither the former head of state, nor the Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan, nor the SDPK activists do not have and can’t have any relation to any actions that could result in the deterioration of relations between the Kyrgyz Republic and the People’s Republic of China. Spreading of rumors about the alleged involvement of the Social Democrats in such rallies is part of a smear campaign aimed at denigrating the SDPK and its leader,» she said.

On December 20, participants of a rally at the Chinese Embassy demanded from all foreigners to leave Kyrgyzstan within a month. And after the New Year holidays, the anti-Chinese campaign repeatedly took place in the center of Bishkek.

The President Sooronbai Jeenbekov said that those who wish to spoil international relations and damage stability in the country would be punished within the framework of the legislation.
