Kyrgyzstani and his accomplice convicted for looting temples in Orenburg

Two men, who stole money and valuables from temples in Orenburg Oblast of Russia, were convicted. AIF-Orenburg reported.

A 33-year-old resident of Bashkiria and a 35-year-old citizen of Kyrgyzstan had been looting Orthodox churches from August to December 2017. In general, four churches have suffered. At night, attackers broke windows in buildings, penetrated into them and took money and valuables.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the biggest theft was committed in Kuvandyk. They found 40 silver chains, about a hundred silver rings, about 150 silver crosses, 10 crosses of gold. The robbers got about 30 silver pendants and two souvenir Easter eggs made of faience. In addition, the men took 48,000 rubles from the temple.

In total, during their robberies, the men stole money and valuables worth 370,000 rubles.

The court sentenced a resident of Bashkiria to four years in prison, and the Kyrgyz citizen to 2.5 years in a penal colony.
