EEU to create own bureau to investigate aviation accidents

The government of Russia approved a draft agreement on establishment of an international bureau for investigation of aviation accidents and serious incidents within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union. RIA Novosti reported.

The new bureau will be an equivalent of the Interstate Aviation Committee. As of today, it is IAC that investigates air crashes in the territory of 11 countries of the former USSR.

The main functions of the new bureau will be to ensure independent investigation of air accidents and incidents in accordance with the requirements of ICAO documents, international interaction of the parties with each other and with other states, development and use of a common set of rules and procedures for investigation of incidents, promotion of the use of manuals and handbooks for professionals, and also improvement of their skills.

By order of the Prime Minister of Russia, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation was also charged with conducting negotiations with Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan on the creation of the bureau.
