Supreme Court remands Aibek Kaliev in custody until October 13

The Supreme Court remanded the former head of the National Energy Holding Aibek Kaliev in custody. The Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic informed 24.kg news agency.

Aibek Kaliev is accused of corruption. He was arrested on April 19. The former director general of Electric Stations JSC Salaidin Avazov is also under arrest.

In addition, the former Prime Minister Sapar Isakov, ex-Minister of Energy, acting deputy of the Parliament Osmonbek Artykbayev, another former head of the government Zhantoro Satybaldiev and ex-mayor of Bishkek Kubanychbek Kulmatov were arrested within a criminal case on the breakdown at the Bishkek Heating and Power Plant. All of them were charged with corruption.

The court dismissed the supervisory appeal on release of Aibek Kaliev under house arrest. The measure of restraint in respect of the ex-mayor Albek Ibraimov has also been left in force. He will be in custody until October 28.

The ex-mayor of Bishkek was detained on the fact of misappropriation and embezzlement of property of Dastan TNC by purchasing special products at an overestimated price. He was charged with corruption.

In addition, according to investigators, he organized a criminal scheme with other officials of the city administration to illegally withdraw municipal land located in the southern zone of Bishkek.
