Zhenish Razakov sees threat for Central Asia in Afghanistan

«Unfortunately, we have to admit that the terrorist threat to our country originating in Afghanistan is intensifying,» the Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Zhenish Razakov said at the opening of the meeting of the heads of anti-terrorist units of security agencies and special services of CIS countries. RIA Novosti reported.

Zhenish Razakov noted that the terrorist threats in Central Asia and the CIS as a whole took a long-term character. According to the intelligence services of Kyrgyzstan, members of international terrorist organizations are seeping into the countries of Central Asia.

«The fact that members of terrorist organizations do not abandon attempts to penetrate from the north of Afghanistan into the territory of the Central Asian region in order to destabilize the situation is of particular concern,» concluded Zhenish Razakov.

It should be noted that the meeting of the heads of the anti-terrorist subdivisions of security agencies and special services of the CIS countries is held within the framework of Issyk-Kul-Antiterror 2018 exercises. Joint anti-terrorist exercises are held in accordance with the program of cooperation of the Commonwealth member states in the fight against terrorism and other violent manifestations of extremism for 2017-2019.
