Former chairman of the State Customs Service Kubanychbek Kulmatov and the ex-mayor of Bishkek Albek Ibraimov are not political prisoners. Zulfiya Marat, a member of the Committee of Political Prisoners, said at a press conference in 24.kg news agency.
According to her, in order to be considered as a political prisoner, one must have own political beliefs and repeatedly tell them to the authorities.
«For example, Omurbek Tekebayev openly said that he was preparing an impeachment for the president. As for Kulmatov and Ibraimov, I can say that there may be some violations in their cases, but we do not consider them as political prisoners,» Zulfiya Marat said.
She noted that the case against Kubanychbek Kulmatov should be studied further.
