A truck transporting more than a million bees was detained on the Russian-Kazakh border. Kavkaz.Realii portal reported with reference to the press service of the border control department of the Federal Security Service of Russia for Kalmykia and Astrakhan oblast.
As noted, the insects were supposed to be delivered from Kyrgyzstan to Makhachkala. A total of 750 hives were found in the truck.
The cargo was detained in connection with a temporary ban on the import of bees and bee products from Central Asia to Russia. This is caused by an unfavorable epizootic situation in the region. In addition, authenticity of veterinary documents for a million of the insects has caused doubts in the security service employees.
