Ex-MP interrogated by State Committee for National Security

Kanybek Osmonaliev, a former parliament deputy from Ar-Namys faction, was interrogated by the investigators of the State Committee for National Security within a criminal case closed three years ago and now resumed in connection with the discovered circumstances. He told journalists about this.

According to Kanybek Osmonaliev, he was interrogated by the staff of the Corruption Control Service of the State Committee for National Security.

The criminal case against officials of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University on illegal enrollment of 24 applicants to the medical faculty in September 2013 was initiated by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Kyrgyz Republic. According to the main supervisory authority of the country, during the investigation it was found out that 24 undergraduates of the KRSU were enrolled by a letter of MP Kanybek Osmonaliev.

On May 12, 2014, the investigation department of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic instituted criminal proceedings under Article 304 Part 2 of the Criminal Code regarding officials of the Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan and KRSU on the fact of illegal enrollment of the applicants to the medical faculty in September 2013.

Kanybek Osmonaliev himself then denied the accusations against him. He reported that he sent to the educational department only a letter with a request to pay attention to 27 applicants.

«Apart from this letter, which has an official character and is registered in the Parliament, there was no talk with the ministry officials or the management of the university. We often write such letters to all institutions as deputies at the request of voters,» Kanybek Osmonaliev told journalists.

Kanybek Osmonaliev was a deputy of the Parliament of the 5th convocation.
