Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan to strengthen relations in all key areas

During the bilateral meeting of the Council of the Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the head of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited the President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan.

Almazbek Atambayev expressed readiness for active joint work on strengthening Kyrgyz-Uzbek relations in all key areas. The head of Kyrgyzstan noted that the ancient brotherly relations of the Uzbek and Kyrgyz peoples, common customs and traditions are an important factor in the consistent development of mutual cooperation.

The presidents discussed the issues of the development of the political dialogue and expansion of social and economic relations, exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues on the party of interest.

Following the meeting, an instruction was given to relevant departments to speed up work on signing a treaty on the delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border.

Recall, Astana hosts a meeting (SCO), where the heads of delegations exchange views on the international and regional situation, security issues and development of cooperation within the SCO in the political, economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres, discuss the process of India and Pakistan's accession to the SCO as member states.
