The leader of Ata Meken party was nominated for presidency. The decision was made yesterday at an extraordinary meeting of the political organization.
According to acting the head of Ata Meken parliamentary faction Almambet Shykmamatov, the decision to hold a forum of political organization was caused by the situation around the leader.
Omurbek Tekebayev was arrested on February 27. He will remain in custody until April 25 during the investigation.
The secretariat of the party said that they also decided to hold peaceful demonstrations across the country. Supporters of Ata Meken intend to demand release of Tekebayev.
Omurbek Tekebayev is accused of corruption and fraud.
Earlier, Temir Sariev, Bakyt Torobaev and Omurbek Babanov voiced their intention to take part in the presidential elections-2017.
