Kyrgyzstan may reduce price of fertilizers to $170 per ton in 2017

In 2017, Kyrgyzstan may reduce price of fertilizers for farmers to $ 170 per ton, last year it reached $220, the First Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Mukhammetkaly Abulgaziev said at a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Agrarian Policy, Water Resources, Environment and Regional Development.

According to him, in connection with the improvement of relations with Uzbekistan, the neighboring country expressed willingness to consider the reduction of price.

He noted that the country’s demand for fertilizers is 340,000 tons, but in 2016 it used only 150,000 tons.

«Firms-suppliers are ready to import 45,000 tons of fertilizers," Vice Prime Minister said.

Mukhammetkaly Abulgaziev said that a bill to support the seed farms is being prepared.

In addition, as of today the republic has created 32 machine and tractor stations, when forecasts show the need of 200.
