Russia sees significant increase in number of parents from Central Asia

The Russian Federation has seen a significant growth in the number of migrant parents from Central Asian countries. The Russian Academy of Sciences received such data.

From 2016 to 2023, the number of fathers from Tajikistan increased by 286.8 percent, and mothers — by 236.6 percent. A similar trend is observed with migrants from Kyrgyzstan: the number of fathers increased by 258.1 percent, and mothers — by 84 percent.

The highest concentration of migrant parents is found in Moscow and St. Petersburg, where nearly half of the parents of newborns are non-native residents.

Meanwhile, the share of Russians in demographic statistics decreases annually by 3.1 percent.
