Kyrgyzstan may receive $2.27 billion from the UK

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Torobaev met with the Regional Director of the UK Export Finance (UKEF) Sebnem Alp. The press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the issue of possible funding from UKEF in the amount of $2.27 billion.

The purpose of the funding is to develop and support the business environment in Kyrgyzstan.

Bakyt Torobaev noted that the head of state clearly outlined priorities in the field of modernization of the agro-industrial complex, infrastructure development, export diversification and increasing investment attractiveness. He emphasized that within the framework of these tasks, the Cabinet of Ministers strives to create added value within the republic, promote environmentally friendly and organic agriculture, modernize irrigation systems, as well as shifting from a raw materials-based to a processing-oriented economic model.

During the conversation, the prospects for bilateral cooperation in the mining, construction and infrastructure industries were also discussed. Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in further developing and strengthening the Kyrgyz-British partnership in all areas.
