Deputies of the Zhogorku Kenesh (Parliament of Kyrgyzstan) adopted a bill on the legal status of the national digital currency «digital som» in the third reading.
The bills on amendments to the constitutional Law «On the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic» and some legislative acts on the legal status of the national digital currency were developed in order to launch the «digital som» and create a legal basis and its status.
The initiators noted that the legal status of the digital currency «digital som» closely depends on the correct choice of the technical platform and the successful completion of the test and pilot periods for testing the prototype of the digital som, as well as the decision to launch into a productive mode.
In this regard, the entry into force of the draft laws is proposed from January 1, 2027.
