The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan purchased 294,000 doses of the measles vaccine. At least 21 million soms were allocated from the republican budget for these needs.
According to the ministry, in response to an application, 1,587 million doses of the measles and rubella vaccine were donated to Kyrgyzstan.
Deputy Minister of Health Bubuzhan Arykbaeva recalled that a two-stage immunization campaign was carried out in the country in response to the measles outbreak. About 818,939 children aged from nine months to seven years were vaccinated — this is 84.6 percent of the target group.
According to her, thanks to the measures taken, the incidence of measles in the republic is steadily decreasing.
A total of 13,320 cases of measles have been registered in Kyrgyzstan since the beginning of the year, the Republican Center for Immunoprophylaxis reported earlier.
