Israel made exploding pagers in Hungary

Israeli intelligence services have organized an operation on manufacturing of pagers filled with explosives for the radical Shiite group Hezbollah. Deutsche Welle reported, citing an investigation by The New York Times.

For this purpose, a front company was created in Hungary to manufacture the devices.

Israel took advantage of the fact that Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah called on militants to abandon smartphones, fearing their vulnerability to Israel’s capabilities in the field of modern digital technology. He suggested using pagers for communication, considering them safer.

Having learned about this, Israeli intelligence services began to implement a plan on establishment of a front company that was supposed to pose as an international manufacturer of pagers. The devices, manufactured by the front Hungarian company B.A.C. Consulting, contained explosives.

The pagers began to be delivered to Lebanon in the summer of 2022 and distributed among Hezbollah members.

In total, the Mossad's pager operation has been in preparation for at least 15 years.

The operation also involved Israeli intelligence services, which disguised their involvement through several front companies.

Recall, a series of explosions of communication devices occurred in Lebanon on September 17 and September 18.
