Russia is considering the option of holding the World Nomad Games. Igor Pavlyuk, vice president of the Committee of National and Non-Olympic Sports of the Russian Federation, told at a press conference in TASS.
In September 2024, Kazakhstan hosted the V World Nomad Games. The Russian team competed at the event under the country’s flag, taking third place in medal standings. The Games are held every two years, with Kyrgyzstan hosting the next one.
«We have time to think about it. Before we get the right to host the Games, we need to solve a number of issues that lie on the regulatory plane. But we are ready, our country has already taught the whole world that if an event is held in Russia, it is, as young people say, always an overtop,» Igor Pavlyuk said.
The World Nomad Games are international competitions in national and ethnic sports included in UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage.
In 2014, 2016 and 2018, the World Games were held in Kyrgyzstan, in 2022 — in Turkey.
On August 7, Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy Chyngyz Esengul uulu reported that the VI World Nomad Games will be held in Kyrgyzstan.
