Kyrgyzstan plans to buy oil from Azerbaijan

Kyrgyzstan is interested in purchase of oil from Azerbaijan. The issue was discussed in Baku at a meeting of the Energy Ministers of the two countries.

The heads of the Ministries of Energy of Azerbaijan and the Kyrgyz Republic held a meeting, at which they raised the issue of signing a contract for the supply of oil. The parties also discussed other issues of energy cooperation.

The proposal was made by the head of the Ministry of Energy of Kyrgyzstan Taalaibek Ibraev. The bilateral meeting with Parviz Shakhbazov took place on the sidelines of the 4th meeting of the Organization of Turkic States.

The Minister of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic noted the high level of experience of Azerbaijan in the field of oil field development and oil product production. Azerbaijan was offered participation in projects in the field of hydropower and renewable energy sources in Kyrgyzstan. A proposal was also made to consider the possibility of purchasing and installing charging devices for electric vehicles in the Kyrgyz Republic through preferential financing from the Azerbaijan-Kyrgyzstan Development Fund in the amount of $2 million.

The Azerbaijani side expressed readiness for cooperation and proposed creating a special working group that would discuss issues of oil supplies.
