Kyrgyzstan asks to lift restrictions on movement of heavy trucks in China

Speaker of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Nurlanbek Shakiev, at a meeting with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China Zhao Leji, asked to lift some restrictions on the movement of heavy trucks from Kyrgyzstan across the territory of the PRC. The website of the Parliament says.

According to the press service of the Parliament, Zhao Leji instructed the relevant managers to study the issue of heavy trucks and promised to assist in its positive resolution.

Nurlanbek Shakiev recalled the important agreement signed this year on the construction of China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railway.

«This project has been discussed for many years, but for various reasons it has not yet been implemented. The project, which can be called the «construction project of the century», will be useful not only for the three states, but also for many other. Therefore, we should not to delay the construction of the railway and put it into operation in a short time,» the press service quotes the speaker as saying.

Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China Zhao Leji said that the proposals and opinions expressed at the meeting were of great importance.

«Considering the global situation, we need to apply new approaches to the development of our relations. Among the Central Asian countries, partnership with the Kyrgyz Republic is of great importance to us. We will continue to actively work on promotion of trade relations; there is a need for joint efforts on the issues of export of Kyrgyz agricultural products to China. In addition, we are ready to open new trading platforms for the Kyrgyz Republic and are interested in scientific and technical cooperation. To be more precise, we have great opportunities in the field of using new energy sources, mechanical engineering and modern technologies,» he noted.
