The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan commented on the appeal of citizens of the country living in Korea, who complained about fraud related to financial transactions using cryptocurrencies.
The Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Seoul organized a meeting with the victims in order to clarify all the circumstances of the incident. It was found out that citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic engaged in the export of cars, mobile phones and other goods became victims of fraud for a large sum of money. According to their information, the funds were transferred using USDT stablecoins through Tether cryptocurrency payment system.
At the same time, the victims did not apply to the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Korea. Diplomats recommended the citizens to immediately file an application with the competent authorities.
At the moment, the corresponding application has been filed by one citizen, which has been accepted for consideration by the cybercrime investigation department of the police in Anyang.
The Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic also appealed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Korea with a request to assist in an objective and comprehensive consideration of this case and provides the affected citizens with appropriate consular and legal assistance within the framework of its competence.
