Emergency situation declared in Cholpon-Ata city

An emergency situation has been declared in Cholpon-Ata city. The city’s mayor Daniyar Satarov told 24.kg news agency.

According to him, the emergency situation may be lifted in the evening.

«Work is underway to eliminate the consequences of the mudflow and create conditions for tourists,» Daniyar Satarov noted.

A mudflow occurred on the northern shore of Issyk-Kul lake on August 11. At least 17 houses were flooded in Cholpon-Ata city, in Baktuu-Dolonotu, Bulan-Sogottu and Bosteri villages. In addition, the bridge to Cooperative Stroitel dacha settlement was damaged.
